Children’s Storybook Parade

Kids are invited to come to the Fest on Saturday morning dressed in their favorite character costume, action hero or with a favorite hat, tutu or magic wand to march around Dearborn Street to amuse fairgoers. Congregate behind Center Stage at 10:30am.

Alex Willan grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was seldom seen without his sketchbook in hand. His love of drawing led him to earn a BFA in illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design. Alex has exhibited in art galleries and has painted murals, theater sets, and squirmy kids' faces, but his true love has always been children's books. He lives in Chicago with his dog, Harley.

Patricia Hruby Powell was formerly a dancer, storyteller, and librarian. Her four latest books are Junior Library Guild Selections and have all won numerous awards.
