R. Clifton Spargo is a novelist, short story writer, and music and cultural critic. His novel Beautiful Fools tells the missing final chapter in the tragic romance of Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald. His fiction and other writings have appeared in The Antioch Review, North American Review, Glimmer Train Stories, Kenyon Review, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, The Baltimore Sun, and Commonweal. An expert on testimony, ethics, and the Holocaust, he has published two books of literature and philosophy with the Johns Hopkins University Press. He co-founded the nonprofit Center for Story & Witness and teaches creative writing at Yale University.
