Queer historian and writer Owen Keehnen has written several fiction and nonfiction titles. His books of Chicago LGBT history include Dugan’s Bistro and the Legend of the Bearded Lady, Man’s Country: More Than a Bathhouse, Gay Chicago Memories 1300 N. Wells, and A Place for Us: Gay Life at Chicago’s Belmont Rocks. He has coauthored the biographies of Chicago LGBT legends — Chuck Renslow, Jim Flint, and Vernita Gray. Keehnen cofounded the LGBT history/education organization, the Legacy Project and was on the founding committee for AIDS Garden Chicago.
