Nicol Turner Lee writes at the intersection of technology, race, and social justice. She is a Senior Fellow in tech policy at Brookings and her work has appeared in major media outlets. Her new book, Digitally Invisible: How the Internet is Creating the New Underclass (Brookings Press/Bloomsbury) surfaces the faces of the digital divide from urban and rural America, and their complicated lives without access. She has her Ph.D. from Northwestern University and much of her book is rooted in her early years in Chicago where she fought for digital equity and empowerment in the city’s most impoverished communities.
