Recently named as the 6th Illinois Poet Laureate, Mark Turcotte (Turtle Mountain Ojibwe) has been an active member of Chicago’s literary scene since the mid 90s. He is author of the books, The Feathered Heart and Exploding Chippewas, and his work has appeared in dozens of magazines and journals, including the first ever Norton Anthology of Native Nations Poetry. He has received recognition from the Lannan Foundation and Wisconsin Arts Board and is Distinguished Writer-In-Residence at DePaul University.
