A pioneer in the field of LGBTQ history and the history of sexuality, John D’Emilio has written or edited a dozen books, including Lost Prophet: The Life and Times of Bayard Rustin; Intimate Matters: A History of Sexuality in America; and Memories of a Gay Catholic Boyhood: Coming of Age in the Sixties. He taught at UIC for 15 years and was founding director of the Policy Institute of the National LGBTQ Task Force.
