Jarrett Dapier is the author of Wake Now in the Fire, a Chicago-set graphic novel about censorship, action, love, and hope, published by Ten Speed Graphic. He has also written three picture books, including Jazz For Lunch! (finalist, Ezra Jack Keats award for writing) and Mr. Watson’s Chickens, which has been challenged and/or censored in multiple states. Also a youth services librarian, Jarrett received the 2016 John Phillip Immroth Award for Intellectual Freedom from the American Library Association for his research into the banning of Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis in Chicago Public Schools. He lives in Evanston, IL with his family.
