Yolanda Nieves is a poet and an activist-educator. She identifies as a second-generation Puerto Rican woman, and her poetry and research have been widely published. With two acclaimed books of poetry published and is the winner of various awards, including the American Educational Research Association’s Dissertation of the Year Award for Arts-Based Research/Theater and Production, the Kirschner Teaching Award, and the Norma Cantu Award for Creative Writing 2024. Nieves earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Loyola University in Chicago, a master’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University, and an Ed.D in Adult Education/Critical Studies from National Louis University.
