Veronica I. Arreola is the author of the children’s board book, J is for Justice: An Activism Alphabet, one of the most banned books for the 2024-2025 school year. She spent three decades in higher education building award-winning diversity in science programs. Now she writes about women’s sports, participates in Chicago’s live lit scene, and consults with not-for-profits on their communication plans. Veronica is a longtime community activist and serves as a district councilor working on public safety and police accountability. Her writing has been published in outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian, and Bitch Media (RIP).
