Caroline Bicks is the Stephen E. King Chair in Literature at the University of Maine. Her new book, Monsters in the Archives (praised by King as “the best book about my process that I have ever read”), chronicles what she discovered when he granted her extended access to his private papers. Previous books include Cognition and Girlhood in Shakespeare’s World and Shakespeare Not Stirred: Cocktails for Your Everyday Dramas (co-written with her Everyday Shakespeare podcast co-host, Michelle Ephraim). Her essays have appeared in the “Modern Love” column of The New York Times, the Financial Times, and McSweeney’s Internet Tendency.
